Taking smarter decisions for improving functionality
ToolsGroup helps retailers, distributors, and manufacturers improve the resilience and performance of their operations with a unique probabilistic planning approach that leverages AI and real-time data from across the enterprise for decision-making at the speed of business.

This project aims to design a new Unified Experience Layer (UEL) to provide users with a seamless and simplified experience that helps them achieve their goals more quickly and efficiently.

To improve the user experience and provide additional value to ToolsGroup, the Design Studio team undertook the task of conducting all the research and discovery work necessary to thoroughly focus on the consolidation of the client's Design System and the UEL (Unified Experience Layer).
Hi-fi wireframes
For both the UEL (Unified Experience Layer) and the design system, high-fidelity wireframes were designed to ensure the best visualization and user experience, taking into account that they are the entry points for users to collaborate and analyze demand, forecasts, and promotions.

How it began

ToolsGroup needed a tool that would display information regarding product functionality, training materials, and internal product features. S&OP, DCH, and PromoPlanning have inconsistent designs and interactions. A more innovative forecast was required, with the ability to view past, present, and future forecasts on the same graph without separate tabs.

Today

Following the UX research, which involved the Design Strategy and Discovery phases, it was decided to design a new Unified Experience Layer (UEL) to provide users with a seamless and simplified experience, helping them achieve their goals faster and more efficiently.

The UEL, a new product, features a unique design for login, dashboard, and configuration, as well as S&OP, DCH, and PromoPlanning functions with a new user interface based on Angular Material.

Additionally, a Design System (DS) was also developed, offering a new solution with components designed and developed based on the framework to ensure consistency throughout.

Challenge

New login page with the possibility to log in using a username and password.

It is also possible to log in with a corporate account, among other options.

New onboarding widget with step-by-step explanations.

New communication tool similar to that in S&OP, featuring messages, chat groups, contact search, and Microsoft Teams integration.
Design System
A Design System was developed to serve as a centralized library of meticulously designed and developed components. This system promotes consistency across applications, facilitates rapid design and development, and adheres to Material Design guidelines. Key elements of the Design System include:

- Reusable templates for both desktop and mobile applications.

- Components for icons, menus, dashboards, and other UI elements.

- Sharing capabilities with multiple teams and independent artists.

Outcome

We have identified a few user problems as metrics for early concepts, general strategy, and design decisions to provide a better solution for the MVP.

After each design iteration, the next step is usability testing, which involves comparing efficiency, effectiveness, and satisfaction levels to measure improvements in a data-driven manner.
